Theme: Innovation, AI, and Youth Employment

The AEYA Local Connecting Events form a core component of Work Package 3, designed to create an enabling environment where participants can generate actionable insights and recommendations for immediate use at the organisational and community levels. Organised by the European University Institute’s School of Transnational Governance (STG) in partnership with Strathmore University, the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and the Youth Café, the AEYA Local Connecting Event (LCE) in Nairobi will convene young leaders, policymakers, academics, and practitioners to explore how innovation ecosystems and AI-driven transformations are reshaping pathways to youth employment. Kenya, as a regional leader in digital and green transitions, provides a strategic setting for this dialogue. The event will empower the youth to engage in high-level policy discussions, foster cross-continental networks, and co-design actionable projects that advance inclusive digital economies and sustainable employment opportunities.

Objectives

  1. Provide a high-level platform for African youth to connect with policymakers, AU/EU officials, and civil society leaders.

  2. Foster peer learning, networking, and cross-continental connections, with emphasis on young women and vulnerable youth.

  3. Equip young leaders with practical skills and generate actionable youth-led projects.
