In collaboration with SpeakUp Africa, the Youth Cafe hosted a podcast and learning forum to analyze computer misuse and Cybercrime Act No.5 of 2018 Kenya. The podcast and the online forum aimed to shed light on the intricacies of the Cybercrime and Computer Misuse Act and the broader landscape of digital rights in East Africa.
The podcast and forum provided a platform for experts, legal scholars, and cybersecurity professionals to analyze the provisions within the Cybercrime and Computer Misuse Act.
In partnership with Young Women Leaders Connect(YWLC), The Youth Cafe organized a Podcast centred around the theme 'Exploring Online Gender-Based Violence Among Youth in Kenya.' The discussions provided an invaluable platform for raising awareness, fostering dialogue, and encouraging meaningful interactions surrounding the critical issue of online gender-based violence affecting the youth in Kenya.
Youth in Kenya face significant challenges amidst tough economic times, grappling with rising rates of taxation and fuel prices. These issues are the most trending and crucial concerns affecting the youth population. The increasing rates of taxation and fuel prices have placed an immense burden on the already struggling Kenyan youth, hindering their ability to pursue education, access employment opportunities, and meet their basic needs. As a result, this topic warrants urgent discussion to address the impacts of these economic hardships, find ways to empower the youth in navigating these difficult times and suggest innovative solutions to address this challenge.
The Youth Café launched the Kenya Youth Manifesto 2022, which aims at addressing youth matters, especially in the next government. The agenda document is a declaration of shared visions that Kenyan youths have for their futures - demanding a full report from those running for office while they're campaigning and asking them to stick true to these promises after they're elected! With an estimated 70% of Kenya's population under age 35, some too many leaders take advantage of this demographic without listening when they need it most; those voices need to be heard now more than ever.

Following the launch of the lockdown live report, members of The Youth Café attended a radio interview on 8th September hosted by Ruben Fm, a community radio station in Nairobi. During this interview, they discussed the issues addressed in the report, the inspiration for the Lockdown Live report, and the suggested recommendations for the challenges. Despite the negativity of this pandemic, it's a blessing in disguise.
In this episode discuss whether the constitution is being used to its full capacity, the provisions of the constitution for special interest groups such as the youth; who are included, people with disabilities, children, women, the aged, the marginalized groups, minorities, the enactment process this far and youth inclusion, engagement, and participation in democracy and governance.
On August 4, 2010, Kenyans went to a referendum jubilant to vote and adopt a new Constitution which was later promulgated on August 27th, 2010. This marked a new dawn for Kenyans that promised an establishment of rules, values, and principles that upon implementation would meet their greatest desire of equality and inclusive citizenship.
The constitution equally provided a broad framework and a launchpad for youth participation, engagement, and representation. Ten years later we get to reflect on a decade of achievements and challenges on the implementation of the 2010 constitution since its launch.
The Youth Cafe podcast had a chat with an eloquence of lawyers on the implementation process, rights, and other provisions for the youth within the constitution, the broad framework, and launchpad for youth participation and representation, and how the youth can remain vigilant during the implementation process to ensure that they are included/engaged in all aspects of society in the manner envisioned by the constitution.
