THE 10 YEAR CONSTITUTIONAL JOURNEY OF KENYA. (EPISODE 2)

The Youth Café podcast in the first episode on Kenya’s constitutional journey engaged in a discussion about the implementation process and the impacts and effects on the youths with the help of lawyers, Paul Jeff, William Ochieng, and Karen Koech, research assistants at the University of Nairobi School of Law.

In this episode discuss whether the constitution is being used to its full capacity, the provisions of the constitution for special interest groups such as the youth; who are included, people with disabilities, children, women, the aged, the marginalized groups, minorities, and the enactment process this far.

Youth participation is a promise made by the constitution and because of this, we look into whether they are engaged and why they have not been fully involved despite having a lot of potential to steer development within the country.

In addition, some of the youths are not even aware of their rights thus the panelists call for them to exercise their right to information in order to ensure they are informed and actively participating in regards to democracy and governance. This calls for the youth to inform and empower each other, be informed, consult, and collaborate with other organizations for their benefit. Do listen in to find out more about this from the panelists.
