Security
Building safer communities within Africa. The Youth Cafe supports African security policies by providing evidence-based research, policy advice, and organizational assistance on security themes and initiatives. We work to support the ‘Community of Users in the African region for Secure, Safe and Resilient Societies. The project promotes the delivery of training projects surrounding risks such as man-made/natural disasters, border security, and terrorism.
Justice
Developing evidence-based policies to strengthen social infrastructures. The Youth Cafe works on policy questions for national and African justice institutions such as the African Public Prosecutors Offices. We are experts in financial crime and money laundering, organized crime, corruption, and measuring illicit markets. We support African institutions and specific governments in the region to develop evidence-based policies which reduce crime and strengthen criminal justice responses.
Migration and Home Affairs
Building a safer Africa through the implementation of sustainable African policies. The Youth Cafe is a consortium leader of several multilateral framework contracts in this field. We conduct research and provide policy advice at the African and national levels in the areas of migration, integration, border control, African policies, and anti-corruption and disaster risk management policies.
Human Rights
Human rights are at the heart of African policies and external relations. Together with our in-house and affiliated experts, The Youth Cafe provides impact assessments of new African legislative proposals and investigates if these are following the Africa Union Charter of Fundamental Rights. Human rights are a horizontal theme in many of the research and policy advice our Security and Justice team provided.
