In an era defined by rapid technological change and the urgent need for climate action, Africa’s youth stand at the crossroads of opportunity and challenge. With over 200 million young people, the continent boasts the largest youth population in the world. Yet, unemployment rates remain stubbornly high, particularly among young women, and the mismatch between skills and labor market demands continues to widen. Against this backdrop, the Reskilling Revolution Africa (RRA) initiative—launched by the African Union (AU) and the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) in partnership with IBM SkillsBuild—has emerged as a transformative model.
