Summary
SAFE-MIT is seeking Assistant Education Outreach Officers to provide crucial logistical and administrative support for an educational outreach campaign in Kenya. This campaign aims to raise awareness among students aged 13–18 and their teachers about irregular migration and human trafficking.
This role is designed to directly assist the primary Educational Outreach Officers (EOOs) by handling the non-technical aspects of the project, thereby ensuring the EOOs can focus on core training and outreach duties. The ideal candidate is a proactive and organized individual who can facilitate the smooth execution of all project activities.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will be to assist and facilitate the work of the Educational Outreach Officer. These tasks are critical for the overall success of the project:
Logistical Support: Assist the EOO in planning and organizing all campaign activities. This includes preparing materials, coordinating venues, and managing schedules for teacher training and in-school sessions.
Administrative Tasks: Support administrative functions such as filing partnership letters, ensuring teachers and students complete surveys, and maintaining a documented log of all visits and interactions.
Facilitation of Surveys: Facilitate the distribution and collection of baseline and endline surveys for teachers and students during trainings and in-school sessions.
Communication Support: Make follow-up calls to teachers to provide support and motivation, and act as a point of contact for logistical questions.
Reporting: Assist the EOO in completing financial tasks and reporting on logistical progress.
Stakeholder Engagement: Help build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, school principals, and directors by supporting the EOO in their interactions.
Child Safeguarding: Participate in mandatory child safeguarding training and immediately report any incidents to the supervisor.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about supporting educational initiatives and are highly organized. The qualifications for this role are more relaxed than for the main EOOs, focusing on practical skills and local knowledge.
Residence: Must reside in either Kiambu, Nairobi, or Kajiado and be able to travel autonomously within the region.
Experience: Previous experience working in an administrative or support capacity, particularly in a school or community setting, is an advantage.
Education: A diploma or equivalent certification is preferred.
Language Skills: Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required for effective communication with teachers and students.
Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic computer literacy is required, along with access to the internet.
Previous working relationship with The Youth Cafe either as a volunteer or an intern is an added advantage
