On 8 May 2026, The Youth Café hosted the official signing ceremony of the Africa-Europe Youth Academy (AEYA) partnership at its offices in Kitisuru Gardens, Nairobi. Implemented by Expertise France under the auspices of the European Union, the initiative will provide strategic funding and capacity-building support to youth-led organisations across 11 Central, East and Southern Africa

As the flags of 193 United Nations Member States fluttered outside the UN Headquarters in New York during the Second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF 2026), a quiet but seismic shift was taking place inside the conference halls. For an entire week, world leaders, ministers, and heads of state debated the highly contested clauses of the 2026 Progress Declaration. Yet, the most vital revelation did not come from a closed-door diplomatic session. It came from a stark, unyielding demographic truth that defines our century: Africa is young, and the future of global mobility is irrevocably African.
African Union Civil Society and Youth Forum | African Union European Union Summit
This declaration was drafted following inputs from the EU-AU Civil Society and Youth Forum which took place online on 23 October and 13 November and on 20 and 21 November 2025. The Youth Cafe’s winning innovative solution is #CivicSafeKE: “Cyber Rights Campus Connect," is a youth-led initiative to empower university students with clear, actionable knowledge of the CMCA 2018. We'll conduct on-site, live interactive podcasts at three institutions in Kiambu County (Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology), supported by Kictanet and Internews.
Young People Re-defining the Future of Democratic Processes in Africa
On the 11th of August 2023, The Youth Cafe, in partnership with Youth Democracy Cohort and the European Union, organized a webinar under the subject of ‘Young People re-defining the future of democratic processes in Africa.’ This 90-minute webinar explored how young people, especially young women, can take an active and meaningful role in shaping the democratic processes in Africa. This webinar was part of a broader project, “The Ignite African Youth Project” and was in line with the commemoration of International Youth Day 2023 under the theme ‘Green skills for youth towards a sustainable world’, highlighting the need for empowering youth with the skills necessary to drive sustainability initiatives at local and global levels.

The Copenhagen Democracy Summit is an initiative by the Alliance of Democracy Foundation that is held annually, dedicated to strengthening the resolve of the world’s democracies by providing a high-level strategic forum exclusively focused on the cause of democracy.
The Sixth European Union - African Union Summit.
The heads of state or the government of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) met for the sixth European Union - African Union summit in Brussels on 17 and 18 February 2022. The meeting was co-chaired by the President of the European Council, H.E Mr. Charles Michel, and the President of Senegal and the Chairperson of the AU, H.E Mr. Macky Sall. Ahead of the summit, EU leaders took part in an informal meeting of the members of the European Union Council on the latest developments related to Russia and Ukraine. EU and AU leaders agreed on a joint vision for a renewed partnership.
The Youth Café Takes Part In The Africa - Europe Week.
In the margins of the 6th European Union - African Union summit on 17 and 18 February 2022, over 10,000 delegates from Europe, Africa, and beyond participated in the first Africa-Europe Week together with 15,000 delegates in the 7th EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF). Hosted in a hybrid format in Brussels and virtually, during over 100 sessions, panel discussions, and concerts, the first edition of the Africa-Europe week was a key moment to bring together young people, civil society, and the private sector from Africa and Europe to discuss the aspects of the Africa-EU Partnership that matter to them the most. The Africa-Europe week aimed to strengthen the links connecting people from Africa and Europe.
Consultation With EU Delegation In Kenya | Connecting, Engaging And Empowering Youths
On the 22nd of July 2021, the European Union held a consultation session with Kenyan youth representative organizations, with The Youth Café as a participant. Through the participation of this survey, the EU stated that participation in this survey can assist in the elaboration of their strategy in supporting Kenyan youth.
