Building on the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and the commitments made in the Pact for the Future, adopted in 2015 and 2024 respectively, discussions will focus on two overarching goals aimed at charting a path towards a more sustainable future: delivering a large-scale impact-focused investment push, and reforming the international financial architecture.

The 7th EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF22) took place online from 14th to 18th February 2022 and in a hybrid format on the 16th and 17th of February 2022, at The Square, in Brussels (Belgium). The Forum was jointly promoted and sponsored by the European Commission and the African Union Commission and organized in partnership with the Pan-African business organizations Africa Business Council, Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, AfroChampions, Business Africa, and the PanEuropean business organizations Business Europe, European Business Council for Africa and the Mediterranean, Eurochambres and European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME.

On the 13th to 15th July 2021, The Youth Café attended the Futuremakers Forum. Hosted by Standard Chartered in partnership with Business Fights Poverty, the Futuremakers Forum brought stakeholders together to build partnerships and create opportunities focused on young people. In his capacity as a youth business leader in Africa, The Youth Cafés Executive Director, Willice Onyango, had been invited to speak at the panel.

As ride-hailing apps proliferate the globe, the year-old An Nisa Taxi in Kenya is one of the standouts in Africa. Developed by 33-year-old Mehnaz Sarwar, An Nisa is run by women and serves female passengers and children exclusively. Ms. Sarwar sought to overcome two obstacles: limited job opportunities for women in a male-dominated industry and the reluctance of women to hail taxis, because physical abuse from drivers—including sexual abuse—is known to take place.
