Despite Covid-19 (im)mobility, the African Union Youth Envoy, Ms. Aya Chebbi has been on the ground for solidarity missions. In November, she visited Namibia and South Sudan and addressed Kenyan youth during the Launch of the Kenya NiMiMi national Campaign. In a courtesy call with His Excellency President Hage G Geingob at the State House of the Republic of Namibia, the envoy presented the Report on Greater Inclusion of African Youth in Public Service and Governance.

The average Social Return on Investment ratio for The Youth Cafe is 1:12, meaning that an investment of $1 delivers $12 value in terms of positive social impact. The present report outlines the main activities and projects carried out by The Youth Cafe from January to December 2020. The activities were developed and implemented in compliance with The Youth Cafe Strategic approved Plan for 2018-2023 and The 2017 Youth Manifesto.

This was the overarching question that formed an esteemed panel of young leaders, including The Youth Cafe’s Executive director, at the recently conducted online conference under the theme of COVID-19 & DEMOCRACY IN EAST AFRICA CONFERENCE from 19-20 November 2020. The Youth Cafe’s overarching goal around youth inclusion in politics is to increase the number of informed youth participating in the upcoming 2022 elections in Kenya, as well as increased participation of marginalized groups like women in the elections.

All Candidates Are Winners: UNESCO Media And Information Literacy Alliance Awards 2020

The Youth Café is proud to announce that our digital/media information literacy projects with African youth has won FIRST place in UNESCO GLOBAL AWARDS!! Over the years The Youth Café has undertaken projects and activities to further digital/media information literacy among the youth in Africa and implemented a media project aimed at cultivating youth power to advance media independence. The UNESCO MIL Alliance will organize an award ceremony on the UNESCO MIL CLICKS platform.

We Condemn Violence Against Young People In Nigeria

We are extremely concerned about the serious situation in Nigeria after authorities imposed a curfew in Lagos, Africa's largest city, in response to the protests in the country. The majority of these are young protesters. The curfew has been followed by an unjustifiable escalation, especially the incident at Lekki Tollgate where people in military uniform attacked protesters with sharp ammunition. According to internal reports, the shooting took place during a coordinated power outage.
