On the 7th of December 2021, The Youth Café, in partnership with the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), US Embassy, was honored to hold a Civic Leadership Speakers Forum with youth leaders in civil society organizations such as Greenpeace Africa, Me and You For Her, National Youth Council, Scion Creative, Bold Impact Africa, Techwomen Kenya, Champion for SDGs among others at the American Corner Nairobi- Moi University. It was a 3-hour session with other youth leaders joining in virtually.
The Youth Café was honored to speak at the African Entrepreneurship Forum, that took place virtually on the 30th of November, 2021. The Youth Cafe’s Executive Director, Willice Onyango and a young entrepreneur from our network, Glodine Ndhlovu who is a young business woman and speaker from South Africa
Despite the need to be vaccinated, Africa is falling behind in the global vaccination drive with only 3% of the continent’s population being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a press release from the African Union. Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI), dedicated to “immunization for all” had a virtual introductory meeting with The Youth Café. The meeting involved discussion on increased engagement and collaboration in the African continent engaged in Covid-19 advocacy at the regional and continental levels.
The Youth Café recently made and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding agreement with GiveDirectly Inc., thereby forming a partnership between the two organizations. The purpose of this partnership is to contribute to enhanced economic empowerment within identified locations of Nairobi and ultimate eradication of poverty which in turn will positively impact the lives of the beneficiaries and communities. This program focuses on the disbursement of emergency grants (cash grants) by GiveDirectly to people mainly living in informal settlements in Kenya in which The Youth Café currently works. As a result of this partnership, thousands of youths have been able to benefit from this program where they each received a disbursement of $30 for 4 months.
The Youth Cafe and The Centre for Children's Rights at Queen's University Belfast are working with many organisations around the world to gather the views and experiences of children and young people on their rights during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Children's rights are strong promises that governments have made to all children in their countries

Financing for Development (FfD) Process- As part of the Civic Society FfD group, The Youth Cafe advocacy in the process has included a letter sent to the president of ECOSOC, co-facilitators (Barbados and Latvia) and UN DESA seeking to reorient the forum as a COVID 19 centric Crises Forum for renewed global solidarity and solutions.
